About the Author
Jack Weyland is the best-selling author of young-adult fiction for the Latter-day Saint market. In fact, the modern genre of Latter-day Saint-themed popular fiction is one he is largely responsible for creating with his overwhelmingly popular novel Charly. His interest in fiction began with a correspondence course in creative writing taken during a summer at BYU where he was doing research work. Since then he has published more than two dozen books, and over fifty of his short stories have been published by the LDS Church magazine The New Era. Born in Butte, Montana, Jack received a B.S. degree in physics from Montana State University and a Ph.D. in physics from BYU. He has taught physics at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and also at BYU-Idaho. In 2011, he received the Whitney Award for Outstanding Achievement as a novelist.

This book really did a lot for my wife and me as we read it aloud to each other, as we do with all Jack Weyland books. It had all the laughs you'd expect from his books, but it also a book of substance with an important message. I would get choked up at some of the painful failures these lovely characters faced. Likewise, their triumphs were heartwarming. Starting in chapter two to the end, it had a number of never-saw-that-coming surprises. Besides being an entertaining read, Mandy has an important social message worth the reader's careful consideration.

"Mandy" is the latest and one of the best books by Jack Weyland. The dialogue is incredible and it makes you feel as if you are a part of the story. Although this book is written for young, LDS single adults, it is a love story that anyone can enjoy. Jack Weyland's books are always hard to put down and this is no exception. He teaches the reader, while unfolding a compelling storyline. If you have read other Jack Weyland books then, this purchase is a no brainer. Just get it. If you have never read a Jack Weyland book you are in for a real treat. Read "Mandy" and then, go back and read all of Jack's books. You are about to have a wonderful experience.
