Superb. Doesn't get any better than this.

If you are looking for a book on the 65x series, it doesn't get any better than this. It explains the 65816 assembly language, and instructions fully. If you are getting this book to write a little something on that Apple II or to perhaps do something related to the S/NES, this is the ultimate book.

Must-have book for 65x programming

I wore this book out thoroughly when I programmed for my Apple IIgs and Apple IIc. It has all of the codes for the entire series (including 6502, 65802, 65816) and explains which is covered by which.

It describes each op-code in detail, and in order. It makes an excellent reference, and should be on every 65x programmer's shelf. It will get a lot of use...

This is quite the hefty tome, but the included software listings alone are worth the price of admission. The book is extremely thorough in fully exploring the 816 architecture, instruction set, processor logic, addressing modes, etc. It's also a complete primer for 65-2 and 65C02 programming as well, if that's what you're attempting to do. It meets the needs of a design and/or software engineer very nicely indeed.

subversive and beautiful. hard to describe.

Umbra is printed on both coated and uncoated semi-gloss paper. Many of the uncoated pages are uncut - two pictures printed on the same page and then folded over at the top. You can lift up the bottom outer corner of the uncut pages. Inside there are poems or more pictures, most in black and white.

There are maybe 25 poems - none more than two dozen lines more or less - by Maria Barnas. I assume they were written in English, as no translator is credited. However, her Wikipedia bibliography only shows publications in Dutch. The poems are 'about' shadows or shadowing - being haunted, or followed or perhaps mocked. The feeling of unease and uncertainty.

The pictures are perhaps more cryptic. I find I dislike the ones on uncoated paper, which seem undersaturated and hard to make out. Annoying and mocking in a strange way. The semi-gloss prints are more sensual and a relief. Towards the end, there is a full page semi-gloss print of a yellow bucket hanging on a rope over an old tire lying on the ground, improbable in its beauty.

There are many pictures of people, their faces are turned away. You can't see their eyes.

Quite a remarkable achievement, this book.

Good Primer for Us Newbie Authors

Author Shelley Hitz has written over 35 ebooks in her career. That number alone proves that she has had ample time and experience to perfect her writing and publishing system. She brings all the lessons she has learned in that journey together in her quick read Procrastination to Publication: How to Write a Non-fiction Kindle Book in 7 Days.

Don’t be put off by the subtitle. Although she lays out a system that anyone could use to write a short Kindle e-book in 7 days (around 10K words), the bigger lesson to draw from this book is that the steps needed to put together a solid e-book is not beyond the beginning writer. Yes, you can write a book in seven days. If that is enough time to offer an acceptable product to your potential customers is up to you.

She offers plenty of tools (from her own site) and recommendations for editing, cover design and all the parts that go into publishing. What I found most useful was her simple outlining process and the mystery she took out of the actual writing needed to get a book done in a short amount of time.

This book is recommended for those authors just starting out and will serve as a good primer for anyone looking to get their feet wet in the e-book market.

Excellent Resource for Future Indie Authors!

I read a lot of writing and self-publishing books, and at times it's hard to differentiate between them since many simply offer the same information through a new filter. Procrastination to Publication stood out in the sense that I learned something new AND enjoyed the author's voice. (That's important because it's harder to get into a book if you get bad vibes from the author). My primary interest is fiction, so I thought it would be enlightening to read more about publishing nonfiction as well; I wasn't disappointed with this one. While I didn't agree with everything Ms. Hitz said -- for example, I think it would take longer than 7 days to plan and write even a short nonfiction book, especially if you're new -- she has some great ideas and this book would be a solid start for anyone interested in self-publishing.

I always wanted to write a book and last year at NaNoWrimo I started. I have'nt finish it. But this year I decided to make that one book into a trilogi. I didn't know how to start doing it since I wrote the main book without planning anything or stoping.
This book was the answer!
You can write a short book or a novel, you can write a non-fiction book or a fiction one, either way this book is useful for making you start writing it. The author tells you 7 easy step of writing a book and useful things or sites that can help you.
I read this book and I made a map for my book. I'm starting tomorrow with the steps.
I recommand this book to everyone who wants to write a book and doesn't know where to start.

The reader is taken through the steps from painting a clear pre-brief weather picture to placing the call to Flight Service to get that all-important briefing. She even provides some insight on how to handle the call to get the most out of your discussion with the specialist! As an added bonus, Delia includes a few personal accounts of actual briefings she has handled to drive home this very important and potentially lifesaving topic. Everything is tied up nicely with some of the features from which you can benefit by using the Lockheed Martin FSS online service. This guide has something for every pilot and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is just learning or one who desires a fresh perspective on the topic.

if you are a recent VFR student pilot in training or maybe a lowtime VFR private pilot and aviation weather sources (such as 800 wx brief) are very new to you, then the book will have lots of value to you. though still a VFR student pilot myself, I am very used to checking those sites and thus it was more of a review for me.

I don't really write reviews (actually, not at all), but I had to leave this review to ensure that other people won't waste their time on this book.

This book had 4 short and perfect reviews before mine, and I went ahead clicking each reviewer's name to see his/her other reviews.

Two, three or even more reviews PER day. Maybe they're so smart they read a few books daily? All of them, 4 of them had the same patterns.

And this book literally had nothing to read. Just google ASP.NET and take a course for beginners. I'm going back there.

Again, don't waste your time.

If you want to lose weight and really have no idea on how or where to start, then this book will help you. I got this book in hopes of learning a few more tips and tricks on weight loss. It explains the common mistakes us dieters make, this Book also shows you how to calculate your calorie intake and how much you should be eating. Overall a good read if you are serious about starting a diet and want to know what steps to take.

I found this to be a well researched and informative look at the 12 step philosophy. Contrary to the previous review. This isn't about 'towing the party line' and anyone with what i would consider to be an informed and open minded approach to their literature and the 12 step program will appreciate what's on offer here.
I found it well written and easy to understand. There's obviously been a lot of research gone into this and is to my mind well informed and balanced. For anyone seeking a more liberal approach this is a great piece of work and I liked the authors interpretation very much. I found the references useful and gained valuable insight into a different philosophy. I personally would have no reservation in recommending this to anybody seeking to broaden their understanding around the program.

If you follow The Captain on social media, you shouldn't even question whether or not to buy this book. If you've no idea who The Captain is, you may wonder why you should buy a book compiled entirely of tweets and Instagram posts?
Let me ask you, do you have 53,000 followers? I didn't think so.
Have you tweeted 600+ original thoughts? I didn't think so.
In a time when almost anyone can publish almost anything, those of us who read should support those of us who write, and especially those who write well. The succinct ideas joined with the mastery of Standard English and the use of there, their, and they're is pure word porn.
What is the book about? It's about the myriad of ways in which people suck, and except for preferring dogs to cats, The Captain is pretty much spot on.

Somewhere in this meme-saturated online world lives 140 characters full of smart, jaded, sarcastic, Ernest Hemingway-esque masculinity; a world in which each quote digs deep into The Captain's reality: clueless sheeple-girls named Ashley wearing all black and carrying huge purses; legit dating advice from a man who makes wearing a scowl and a nautical cap not just acceptable but compelling; gleaning life goals from the hardened visage of garden gnomes; and enough cringe worthy yet accurate insights to leave everyone from joggers, to couples, to the PC-police, to Marilyn Monroe die-hards all deeply offended. Or turned on. Or both. That world is here, now, in book form.

I couldn't even continue. So full of typos, ...

I couldn't even continue. So full of typos, misspellings and grammatical errors that it was difficult to read. And the dashes and dots?! Practically every sentence had one and in places where they didn't belong (Fire-Island, Upper-West-Side, etc.). Any book so poorly edited isn't worth my time or my eyesight.

A funny look at a slower life on a small French island

This is a memoir about settling into the gentle sway of life on a small French island in the Atlantic. I sometimes worry when a book is titled ‘humorous’ by the author, but I have to agree in this case as parts of this book are hilarious.

Take one New York executive used to the fast paced life on Manhattan Island and take her across the Atlantic to the small island of Ile d’Oleron, just off the coast of La Rochelle (and somewhere I know very well). It is the early 1990’s and there is no internet, email, Facebook or mobile phones, meaning she is totally isolated from all her friends and family and has no choice but to settle into her new life with her French surfer boyfriend and his mates. Give her lots of new and scary experiences like driving a car with gears (stick shift), topless beaches (who knew you American gals struggle so much with boobies), a strange language where kissing replaces waving and hugging, shared public toilet facilities and local farmers who stare.

Some might go mad, some might run back to their hectic normality, but Judy lets the love of a good Frenchman and the acceptance of the locals slow her down, relax her and leave her feeling calm and at home. Except when it comes to struggling with the supermarkets, cheese counters and shopping trolleys (carts), when (between my giggles) I feared she might need to return her Upper West Side shrink.

I thoroughly enjoyed her funny descriptions of the vast differences between her old and new life and the only thing that disappointed me was the end. I really wasn’t ready for it to end when it did and I do hope there is another book planned. I guess I am just a naturally nosey person, but I’d love to know what happened next.

Spelling, grammar and tenses spoil the story.

Two aspects spoiled this book for me -- Judy Block's atrocious spelling and sentence construction, and her exaggerations. The book is funny, here and there. But even though English is not my first language I cannot enjoy a book so badly edited. She hyphenates words (all the time) which should not be hyphenated, and she mixes her tenses: she would start off a paragraph in the present tense and then jump to past tense. She calls a vineyard a "wine field"!! I'm sorry I cannot remember more of her incorrect words, as I have gone on to read other books in the meantime. I'm sorry if I sound like a grumpy teacher, but these self-published books should first be given to someone like an English teacher to edit! Judy also exaggerates a lot, and "pads" her stories to draw them out, so in places that old ploy becomes simply boring. It's not THAT hard to drive a car with a gear stick (which she calls a shift stick). The story about her fears to go topless on the French island was mildly funny, but in the end you want to say, oh, for heaven's sake, then just don't do it, but stop the agonizing about it! Judy could very well write a sequel, but in that case I sincerely hope she lets someone edit her manuscript. I don't understand how a former TV executive can mangle her mother tongue like this!
