Review
"Getting the shot is everything in the fashion world, and it's something that Grace Coddington has always been pretty adept at. How adept is best judged by taking a look at her forthcoming book, an outsize tome titled Grace: Thirty Years of Fashion at Vogue, which samples some of the visual treats she has concocted in her 30-plus years as a fashion editor." —New York Magazine

About the Author
Grace's extraordinary talent and fierce dedication to her work as creative director of Vogue have made her an international icon. Known through much of her career only to those who work behind the scenes, she might have remained fashion's best-kept secret were it not for The September Issue, the acclaimed 2009 documentary by R. J. Cutler that turned the publicity-averse Grace into a sudden celebrity.
The daughter of an hotelier in Wales, as a teenager Grace won a modeling competition and moved to London. She enjoyed a lucrative career as one of London's leading models on the 1960s scene. In 1968, following a car accident, she took a job as a junior fashion editor at British Vogue. She quickly established herself as a master stylist and creative director for fashion photography, whether she was transforming studio portraiture into beguiling tableaux, reinterpreting fashion photography classics, or by introducing a sweeping narrative epic style—story telling with clothing that is the hallmark of Grace Coddington's work.

So happy that this was finally re-printed
By Target to Paris
I was not able to purchase it the first time around for a couple of reasons:
(1) didn't know about it until much later after it was originally printed and already sold-out
(2) probably would not have been able to afford it even if I knew
(3) since then, have been on the hunt for it, but was unwilling to pay $400+++ for a used, in "good" condition copy
For those reasons, I was excited to open the box and see an almost replica of the the first edition. It is hefty and big...just like the original, though only slightly larger. It comes with the cardboard holder of the typically "fancy" coffee table book. I also noticed it has 8 additional pages compared to the original. I believe these are additional intro / foreword pages versus new images. And there is a single insert, copy of a letter from Grace with her illustrations. In all, it deserves five stars. Ignore the other reviewer who "did not know what they were ordering." Look at the dimensions and weight in case you are concerned about that too.

Beautiful book filled with amazing photographs!
By Olivia
As the previous reviewer wrote, yes, this is a very large book, but in the best way possible! Phaidon has done it again with a wonderfully laid out book full of huge, high quality photos. I am already a big fan of Grace Coddington, and this book is an amazing collection of her work. Each photoshoot includes a description of the story behind it, written by Grace herself. If you are a fan of Vogue, and a fan of the editorial side of fashion, this book is a must-buy.

Big gorgeous book of stunning photography.
By Art
This is a huge, gorgeous book. It really does capture three decades well. Keep in mind, these are photos from the past, not current. Don't look at this as a fashion guide, it is really about creating art through fashion photography. I was impressed with the quality for the price. Grab one while you can... last time these sold out and were selling for ten times the price. Glad I waited for this reprint. Well worth the money if you love fashion photography, and especially if you love Grace -- which I do!
