The book gives a short introduction to Lua, which is sufficient for beginners, in my opinion. But, there is a dangerous typo at the end of the book. If you enter the URL to the promised downloadable code (http://sixfigureteen.com/Luabook at the time of my reading), it leads you the download page of an ebook called "SPECIAL REPORT: 10 Strange Deaths of Vladimir Putin". However, amazon page redirects to the correct link, http://sixfigureteen.com/luabook. I didn't notice the subtle difference before I checked twice, so I first thought it was a malicious attempt for a political cause.

Capitalization and typing errors are more than this in this book, but this is the one which might have an impact beyond the reading pleasure.

I am so happy I got to read this book,i would have never thought in a million years that these kinda of accidents were even possible.I am a person that does not like to read but after this book,u had made a believer out of me.Most of these stories were almost all the same but a few about getting struck by lighting bolts, but the one that really got me was the lady that pretty much that lost everything she has ever worked for.I do not want to ruin this book for anyone ,but what I will tell you is that this writer deserve's a job well done, because all I wanted to do is just keep reading, now remember I don't like reading, the one that I really took interact in was the couple that took the vacation's I would have just stop planning vacation's all together. Another one was the man that actually lived through the bombings and was able to tell about it.The book is awesome let me stop ruining it for everyone, buy this book you will not regret it I promise you it is worth every penny.I would like to read some more books by this author, This author is full of life.Just when you think this book is calming down it has more twist to it the other story that I liked in this particular book was The gentleman 20 years later if you read this book then you know what incident I am talking about.When you do buy this book do not skip not one story in this book because it has some good information in this book as well.Now a book like this I don't have a problem in writing a review for this kinda of book because it is so much excitement in this book.Ok let me stop babbling on but anyone that come's across this review just know that this was truley from the heart and I have never experienced events like this in my life this is an awesome book, and a very brilliant author on top of it, You also picked out a very good title for this book.But I will tell you this I would not want to be a 100 feet in any of these people's path ,They are bad luck charm's all the way....

Treasure & Appreciate Life For As Long As It Lasts

If you’re superstitious don’t read Stuart Carapola’s short novel about a group of very unlucky people. The true stories of people who’ve survived multiple lightning strikes, hurricanes, bombings, and school shootings among other tragic events are pretty unbelievable.

But these stories of survival are inspiring too and it’s interesting that the author has taken the time to research the statistical probability of the likelihood of these events occurring like an actuary might.

Having survived a natural disaster myself and losing my own home, the story of Melanie Martinez, a woman who lost five homes to five different hurricanes was particularly difficult for me personally to read because I could relate to it.

Many of these accounts are so incredible that they seem like fiction. But they’re not, which is even more incredible.

The author had to a lot of historical research and it shows in the many of the accounts that are included in the novel, including the story of Robert Todd Lincoln, who was the son of the assassinated sixteenth president Abraham Lincoln. Robert Todd Lincoln was not associated with his father, but also President James Garfield and President William McKinley who were both assassinated in 1881 and 1901 respectively.

If nothing else this book reminds readers that no matter how bad you think your luck is, there’s always someone whose fortune is worse than yours.

Luck, like life, is fleeting and we should all treasure both for as long as they last.

So if you want to be inspired by stories of survival this is definitely a book that belongs on your to read list.

Very Interesting and Fast Read

I enjoy watching shows like this on television, so I knew I would like the book. It explores different (very unlikely, but true) stories about people with bad luck. The book starts off strong with a story about a man that survived 7 lightning strikes and then goes into less verifiable stories. It's all very interesting and the stories are fairly short, so you get through them quickly. I'd really like to learn more about several of them and find out more of the details as to what happened.

The thing that I didn't particularly care for was the style of the writing in the book. It was like someone was just telling you stories off-hand. It made it seem more personal, but less believable. If the author were writing the stories from the perspective of the unlucky individual, that approach would work, but other than that application it just feels like it's missing authority.

Graduating from the University of Utah, where she earned both a bachelor of fine arts in ballet and a master’s in education, Betsy Bradley has taught ballet for over forty years, most recently with the School of Ballet Arizona. Ms. Bradley began her dance training with Ballet Russe alumni, Roman Jasinski, and Moscelyne Larkin. She danced with the Tulsa Ballet Theater and Ballet West’s Ballet for Children and has since educated teachers on how to use performing arts to develop children’s creativity. She has been featured in newspaper and magazine articles.

Mother of two adult sons, Bradley now lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she continues to advocate for the arts and arts education. She has served on the Scottsdale Arts in Education Council board of directors, leading the organization as president for one term, which earned her Volunteer of the Year from the Scottsdale Charros, a group dedicated to serving the community.

If you are parent interested in the what's and why's of dance, read this book! Don't think you know everything about dance because you watch "Dance Moms"! This book should be in every single lobby of every dance studio! Thanks Miss Betsy for the fabulous read. Got it yesterday and finished it! You are the best dance educator ever and I am so very proud that you are spreading your wisdom that you gave us moms when we came to you for dance direction. Thank you again for all you do for your students and their families. Your advise has never stopped when they had outgrown your class, now you have written it in this sweet book! Can't wait to pass it on to the new generation of dancers...I hope you are ready to write for part 2! Lol

Browns Fan and Intuitive Mural Artist Means a Road Less Traveled

This book was a surprise. As a mini-celebrity in Cleveland, I expected this book to be about the Browns. Although that is a major component, I was surprised to find that the author is a published artist that has traveled and lived with some of America's wealthy while she creates 19th century landscape murals on their walls. She often has spiritual-intuitive experiences related to their homes and families offering solace and inspiration along with the lasting installation of her paintings. Browns fans will likely enjoy the names of some of their favorite fans since she is often out and about with them. Overall, an interesting peek into the life of an artist's work.

sometimes poignant and fun stories about life

The Bone Lady is one woman's dual journey as an evolving artist and ultimate football fan. Her revealing, sometimes poignant and fun stories about life, football and how they intersect are inspirational. Debra's message is about trusting your courage, passion and spirit where fear is not to be defeated and ignored. It's about acknowledging fear, having it beside you along for the ride and having fun in spite of your fear. As an aside, You don't have to be a huge Cleveland Browns fan to read this book ! I am a native New Yorker, not a Clevelander and I think anyone (football fan or not) would find The Bone Lady a worthwhile read.

This book was entertaining and very easy to read

This book was entertaining and very easy to read, which helps for a slow reader such as me. Reading the book was almost like having her in your living room having a conversation. It is filled with wit and humor and at the same time very touching and revealing. Darnall seamlessly travels from the silly to the profound, baring her soul in unexpected ways and showing her courage and her insecurities in one book. Once you start reading you will be pulled in to all the highs and lows of her "Bone Lady" journey.

About the Author

Hal Tiné designed the sets for the Broadway productions of Jerry’s Girls, and The Trip Back Down, and other National Tours. He has worked extensively, designing over 150 productions, for regional theatres, Off- and off-off Broadway, regional opera and ballet, including over 20 for the New York Grand Opera.

He was Associate Designer with Peter Wexler for the Met Opera Un Ballo in Maschera, with Pavorotti, and Le Prophète. Work for television includes Good Morning America, World News Tonight, and Saturday Night Live, as well as numerous commercials for Kraft Foods, IBM, and Penzoil. Museum and exhibition work include the Smithsonian, the New-York Historical Society, the Brooklyn Museum, the Dallas Museum of Art among others.

Mr. Tiné taught stage design and Period Style in the Design/Tech program at Purchase College for many years and recently retired from the Production Design program at the Savannah College of Art and Design where he continued to develop his Period Style curriculum. He is a full member of United Scenic Artists, local 829, and a member of USITT.

I finally had an opportunity study “Essentials of Period Style” and was just blown away by its range and authority from Pompeii to Steampunk. What an incredible gift of knowledge Hal Tine'has given young people. I love the selection of photos and the clear layout “A Little Background,” the bullet point info on each period and the Building and De'cor key words. The book has an immense amount of information distilled in a way that new students can grasp without being simplistic and experienced production designers can learn from.

Great Design Resource!!!

Hal is a former professor of mine and he always talked about this book during his Period Style class. I remember being excited for it then, before it was even finished. I have to say it was definitely worth the wait! This is a great resource to any professional designer or period piece enthusiast! Highly recommended!
